| While this website is specifically setup for people who are too busy and
want to figure out how to make changes that will bring more ease and
fulfillment to their lives, I have worked with many kinds of people who have
all sort of issues. My client list includes everything from consultants in the
aerospace industry to massage therapists, from people who want to change
their careers to people who are searching for a mate. In every case, clients have been looking
for a meaningful life. Sometimes they don't know that's what they are
looking for when they first show up for coaching, but ultimately, that's
what they discover.
When we make such a discovery, we find that live is much more serene
and peaceful. The hectic pace slows down so that we can be
aware of what we are doing and make decisions aligned
with our values.
| Academic wanting to work in the private sector
|
Fred was a PhD post-doc who wanted to explore work in the private sector that was more rewarding both professionally and
monetarily. After creating a detail list of what he wanted in a career (see
Deliberate Attraction) he deciding he was open to change.
Within a few months, the perfect job just showed up.
The transition took some juggling to accommodate the program being left
behind and the family that was always a priority, but once the transition
happened, this client was very satisfied with the new career and how his
life reshaped itself.

| Knowing what you don't want |
Susan knew that her job was killing her--literally. She
went on sabbatical. She knew exactly what she didn't want. She didn't
want a long commute, long days, or office politics. Using
Deliberate
Attraction, she set out to discover the kind of work that would give
her time to spend with her family and to pursue the thing she loved:
gardening. Eventually she started her own gardening business and life
took on a rhythm that flowed peacefully with the seasons. |
| Needing security |
Twenty years ago, when Joe started working as the Visual
Arts teacher in an urban middle school, such a job had a guaranteed
future. Lately the future looked bleak; arts programs were being cut
right and left and Joe simply couldn't trust that he'd have the income
needed to put his own kids through college. He loved teaching and he
loved art. With some urging an challenges, he put together a portfolio
and resume and within six months found a position at a local Art
Institute that offered security and decent benefits. |
| Retiring into a new career |
Laura was retired from her job as an travel agent for
over a year and found herself languishing with little purpose. She
wanted some spending money and some meaningful activity. When we started
working together, she revealed that she had always enjoyed painting and
had made quite a name for herself by copying famous paintings for
friends and colleagues. What she really wanted, though was to create
something original. |
| Recent grad looking for fulfilling work |
After completing his BA, this client continued to work
in the restaurant industry, but felt that something was lacking in is
life. In working with me, he began to explore ideas and activities that
he enjoyed. He found that when he was interested in the work he was
doing, live moved more smoothly. Eventually he went back to school to
get a Masters degree in this field he loved so much. |
| Wanting to make a difference in the world |
There's nothing more tempting than a job you do well
that also pays you well. It's so easy to stay put. When this client began to
listen to his Inner Wisdom, he discovered a new career that paid him
well in satisfaction. He made some adjustments in his lifestyle and
found that being a coach was far more rewarding than the glamorous high
tech job he had held. |
| There Must Be Something Better! |
This is a cry that coaches often here. When life seems
too hard, and too unfulfilling, it's time to discover what you really
have passion for. This client had taken a sabbatical from her high
paying job to give herself time to think about what she really wanted to
do. When she answered the questions, "If you knew you would not fail and
money isn't an issue, what would you do with your time. She answered
unequivocally, work with an environmental group to protect wildlife."
Within the year, she was traveling in Africa and making a difference not
only to the animals but to the people who were making conservation work. |
| Learning from Past Mistakes |
A client originally came to coaching in hopes of salvaging a faltering
relationship. Within a few months it was clear that this partnership should
end because the spouses no longer share the same hopes and dreams and their
values were widely divergent.
As this client began to explore living a life that was aligned with his
values, he became aware of the many times he had abandoned what had purpose
and meaning for the sake of money and advancement. He eventually forgave
himself and began creating a new life using the skills he had always had but
with a new perspective. Once he reset his compass, life became enjoyable and
his work was rewarding.

| Support while making Hard Choices |
This client knew she had some difficult choices to make
as she was ending her 20 year marriage. There were teenagers who need
support and a pre-schooler who needed stability. She and her husband had
to decide how to make their lives work as they separated and still
create the environment that nurtured their children.
This process actually took several years, but eventually they created
separate lives, launched their older children into adulthood, and gave
their youngest child the support she needed as she settled into primary
school. |
| Personal Coach |
Once a coach finishes training, he or she needs to setup their own
business. Often they have little of no experience with the nuts and
bolts of being self employed. I've helped several new coaches establish
the nuts and bolts of doing business at home and starting marketing
their services. |
